Migraines | Natural Treatments to Feel Clear and Energized

So many people are searching for a natural migraine treatment so they can get off the strong painkillers that are often prescribed.

The unfortunate reality is that often a side effect of migraine medications is more headache pain! I think this is absolutely ridiculous.

To find a truly effective migraine treatment, let’s first look at the potential causes of migraines.

What Causes Migraines

I believe personally that all headaches and migraines are coming from chronic dehydration of the brain.

When we become dehydrated we have an intercellular ratcheting in the blood capillaries that exist within the brain. This is the body’s way of simply trying to hold onto the water that is left within the brain. This hurts, and the result is what we call a headache.

We’re conditioned these days that anytime we have pain, to go and get a pharmaceutical drug, or a natural pill like white willow bark to kill the pain. But is this really an effective solution to the problem?

No.

Lose the Pain by Hydrating the Brain

The reality is when we have a headache, if we just drank at least one litre of fresh, clean water and waited about 20 minutes, the brain would begin to hydrate.

When you drink plain, clean water (not mixed drinks, it has to be plain pure water) it hits the stomach acids and is lifted in a process called osmotic precipitation. This hydrates the brain through the 3rd and 4th ventricles and you can actually feel it! It feels like it’s raining on your brain.

Let’s look at the meaning of the word brain. B means “beth” or “house”. B-RAIN literally means House of Rain. Your brain is made up of over 90 percent water. So understand that migraines are coming from a chronic level of dehydration.

Many of us think we drink enough water, but sadly most people are not drinking anywhere near what the body and brain require, and are living in a state of chronic dehydration.

Something to understand is that when people become chronically dehydrated it could take anywhere from 30 to 90 days to fully begin to rehydrate. The amount of time required depends on factors like how dehydrated you were to start with and how much pure plain water you’re drinking.

To help your body hydrate sooner let me share a couple tips:

1. Adding a pinch of salt (Celtic or Pink Himalayan are best choices) can actually help the body regulate hydration.

2. A little bit of citrus juice (lemon is great) can actually clear out lipofuscin (cellular waste) from the brain. These two things – salt and citrus – will actually cross the blood-brain barrier and will allow the brain to hydrate and really help in the process.

Fasting to Rehydrate the Body and Make Migraines Disappear

Rehydration also depends on what you need to eliminate from your lifestyle. Soda pop, drugs and things of this nature can also contribute to you being chronically dehydrated.

A few years ago, a woman came to my FAST program (in Bali) with her partner just to support his process. She was surprised that halfway through the program she was no longer experiencing migraines. She had just accepted migraines as a part of her life and was taking medication every day to deal with them. But because she was hydrating herself in such a massive way with water and freshly squeezed juices, the pain was gone and she was able to stop using the pills.

Now she understands what to do in order to never have those migraines come back.

So basically it comes down to a level of hydration, and I mean SERIOUS hydration. If you are getting migraines and headaches, start drinking enough pure, plain water to really begin to rehydrate yourself and definitely consider a cleanse.

During this process be gentle with yourself. The first period may be hard if you’ve been taking painkillers often. Start by gently weaning yourself off them, maybe taking very small doses as you begin the process.

Then once the benefits from cleansing and rehydrating kick in you can remove them altogether. You’ll be done with headaches, migraines, and, instead, be feeling great.

DRINK. MORE. WATER. 

I know sometimes these things sound too simple, but to me, that’s another sign that it’s the absolute truth. And I’ve seen this process work time and time again for people.
